“Ah! Abe-kun! They’re changing for Takayuki Kishi!”

As if his usual hesitation and stuttering didn’t exist at all, Mihashi placed a hand on Abe’s shoulder while leaning forward, as if it would assist him see the Seibu Lions pitcher as he stepped up on the mound. Mihashi’s eyes twinkled with excitement. His previous nervousness at being in the big stadium, surrounded by strangers with only Abe by his side seemed like a completely different person. To Abe it was a pleasant change of pace.

It was without consideration that Mihashi authorize his hand unwind on Abe’s shoulder. When his catcher decided to place his own hand on top of it he finally seemed to see what he’d done.

“Ah, sorry,” he was quick to speak and try to retrieve it.

Abe didn’t let him. “Don’t worry.” He said as he forced a smile. Not as much forced it because he didn’t want to, but because they were in a stadium filled with people and Abe was actually hol are abe and mihashi gay

OOFURI IS THE BEST SPORTS ANIME THERE IS OK??? LIKE YOU THINK HAIKYUU IS GAY? OOFURI IS R E A L G A Y

Ok but since I am actually going to convince u to watch oofuri pls continue reading for a very in depth and personal analysis of this anime and manga that has ruined my entire life and simultaneously pulled me together and made me whole again.

Ookiku Furikabutte is the full call of the show, and it centers around the protagonist Mihashi Ren (the little guy I employ when I reply to all my asks, and the original baby birb) and he’s got anxiety. Like real bad anxiety. But that’s okay! Because his team accepts him for who he is, despite him being annoying at times, and jumping to conclusions, and fretting over little things. (Ex: If Abe’s not here, I can’t pitch…) One of the things I really love with this show is his anxiety and shit doesn’t magically get better through the “power of friendship” He continues to struggle with it, but he grows as a person and learns to tell himself otherwise, while coming out of his shell to his teammates, and knowledge to trust others again. (EX: “I’m not good enough&helli

As promised here is the review of Big Windup! Oofuri, otherwise known as Everyone Cries All the Time.  For info about the show check out yesterday's blog.

In middle school Ren Mihashi was the ace starting pitcher of his baseball club, a position he likely received because his grandfather owned the school; a fact his teammates merciless bullied and tortured him over all three years he was there.  His slow pitches are attributed to their team’s losing streak but, despite believing this wholeheartedly, Ren refused to give up the mound.  In the end he transfers to a modern high school and decides to quit baseball forever, his self-confidence now in the toilet.  However his first evening at Nishiura Elevated School his is practically forced to join the school’s newly formed baseball club despite his reservations.  However his new coach, catcher and other teammates quickly realize that there’s more to Mihashi’s pitching than even he realizes.

Let me get this out of the way before I forget to note it: I was pretty convinced that Mihashi and Abe had some sort homosexual romance thing going on.  I had to verify online, which I d

i actually have some legitimate (well… in my consciousness anyway) reasons for the name thing if anyone’s actually curious? if not, feel free to skip this post, I guarantee I won’t do this often. but for those who wanna know…. here goes

at first it was definitely just habit, i’m used to calling them Abe and Mihashi after going through the majority of the story that way. but as i think about it more i actually prefer for them to stick to mostly using last names on a day-to-day basis. Ren and Takaya are pretty common names that I associate with a few different characters, whereas Abe and Mihashi are unique to them? and i just like using them more, haha. I like the way they sound, and they fit the characters so good for me, it’s unyielding to always call them something else (if I tried i would definitely mess up now and then and switch it. this way i can stay more consistent!)

but also, from a narrative show of view… I much prefer having given names to use in more intimate moments with them using family names regularly, rather than the backwards. if they’re using given names all the moment, then switching to using the family name would be like&hell

I Rewatched Big Windup And It Was Even More Ridiculous And Gay The 2nd Time Round - Blog Posts

We’re all used to the eccentricities of each character, and the techniques the boys apply to stay calm and focused during their games, but from an outside perspective Nishiura high university baseball team is absolutely fucking bizarre.

*Nishiura calls time*

Opponent team: oh they must be making a game plan, alright

*Abe goes out to stand in the middle of the field and hold hands with Mihashi while staring intently into his eyes*

Opponent team: what the fuck is going on???

*Abe calls Mihashi his pitcher, promises to take care of him for the next 3 years, swears that they’ll win for his sake, Mihashi is crying incoherently*

Opponent team: they know we’re in the middle of a game, right? complete we need to acquire them a room or something....?

Opponent team: how are these freshmen staying so calm in such a serious game??? what’s their trick???

*Looks across to Nishiura’s dugout where Mizutani is screaming while Izumi and Mihashi tickle him*

Opponent team: ?????? do we necessitate to call somebody?? is he okay?

*Tajima makes an impossible shot and gets several runs*

Opponent team: how cool is that p
