Fans of Encanto think that Mirabel is queer-coded in the Disney movie.
Stephanie Beatriz has addressed fan theories that her belovedEncanto character, Mirabel Madrigal, was written as bisexual.
For years fans possess begged Disney to encompass openly LGBTQ+ characters in their films. While there is still a very long way to move, there have been insignificant steps in recent movies. Onward has a low, openly queer character and there are also theories that the likes of Frozen,Luca, Raya and the Last Dragon andTurning Red, have main characters who are queer-coded.
Recently, fans acquire suspected that Mirabel from Encanto isbi. Now, Stephanie Beatriz has responded to the fan theories.

In late November of 2021, Disney released the long-anticipated movie “Encanto.” The film centers around a mestiza, Colombian family, the Madrigals, who were blessed with magical powers which they apply to help the neighboring town. The main character is Mirabel Madrigal, who didn’t get powers and is therefore the familial jet sheep, tip-toed around and often told to stay out of the way. However, when the magic starts vanishing from the dwelling, and the Madrigals begin to fall their powers, it’s up to Mirabel to save them.
“Encanto” is vibrant and full of existence. Everything is colorful and the melody is fun yet enchanting, especially “Dos Orguitas” by Sebastian Yatra, which appears towards the terminate of the production. It is clarify that this was a passion plan, treated with the utmost care. The film tackles a lot of themes that surround Latinidad, specifically generational trauma and the ways in which our identities are assembled, destroyed, and renewed.

Encanto as a film was one of the superior received Disney animation in recent memory, from the harmony, to the nature designs, to the narrative resolution and heartwarming interplay of all of the characters in the family Madrigal.
Though, for all of the popularity of the film there was a bit of controversy in the "proper" reading of the plot. While there is a clear examination of intergenerational trauma from Abuela to Mirabel and all of the family in-between, some have browse the film with as allegorical to the experience some in LGBTQ collective have experienced.
This disagreement led to a decent amount of intercommunal conflict on many social networks about the proper way of reading the text, but is their an actual proper interpretation to a film? Does authorial intent matter? Is it "wrong" to peruse the text in a way more relative to oneself?
There is quite a lot of room to discuss the racial and cultural perspectives of the various angles of the argument of the actual definition of the movie.
