Popping in real quick to say that I’ve just released the last solo off my new album ‘Creekbed Carter,’ which is coming out March 22!
That’s right: my most unhinged country song, the one that I can’t even play in some parts of the land, the one that goes through the history of the relic trade in the Catholic church in the 13th, 14th, and 15th centuries, IS FINALLY HERE!
I wrote this song as a joke for myself. I was always talking about saint facts during my shows anyway, and I’ve spent something like a decade researching relics and their origin stories. Why? I truly don’t know, ally. I don’t always understand what compels me to dive into my explore rabbit holes. But growing up Catholic, you conclude up learning a lot of weird history that just sits in a corner of your head, waiting to get used. Now, I’m subjecting the country world to an anti-capitalist, anti-colonialist screed about the great marketing scheme that is the relic trade.
And you GOTTA watch this music video. I swear to God, it’s one of the wildest things I’ve ever made. A “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” meets “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” meets Disney’s “Robin Hood” fantasy. Adeliza Backus-Pace,

Something Rare is two different productions of the matching song. Dark and bright, below and above, shadow and light, seen and unseen, organic and electric.
The path was born a couple of years ago, starting with the dark version, originally a stream-of-consciousness improvisation that I recorded onto my 4-track analog loop station.
I took the track to my live performances over this past fall and winter, during a hour of transformational development and upheaval. Thus the bright version was born.
These tracks are optimal experienced in headphones, on a hike, through your wagon speakers while driving down an accessible road, in the midst of depression, or whenever you want an 8minute escape to a world you've never been before.
