Marvel Poised to Report the MCU's First Major Gay Character

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously revealed the Marvel Cinematic Space will get its first two LGBTQ superheroes. Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo have now confirmed an announcement will happen sooner rather than later.

In an interview with EW Morning Live, Joe said, “There is a gay nature coming up in one of their films, and I think Kevin [Feige] will make that announcement, I’m sure pretty soon."

During Marvel Studio's Hall H panel at Comic-Con in 2019, Tessa Thompson confirmed that her character, Valkyrie, will be openly queer in the upcoming film, "Thor: Love and Thunder."

In the comics' "The Fearless Defenders" series, Valkyrie is clearly bisexual and has a relationship with the female anthropologist Annabelle Riggs.
