Community organizations, business leaders, public figures, and residents work together to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for the LGBTQ+ community in the Capital Region. The following organizations work to serve the needs of the community by hosting community groups, Pride events, support services, and offering LGBTQ+ health services. Pride Center of the Capital Region

Known as the oldest, continuously operating identity festival center in the territory, this organization has been serving the needs of the LGBTQ+ community since 1970. The Pride Center is always working to create a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for the community in the Capital Region. They host various events, community groups, and programs throughout the year, including the annual Capital Pride parade and festival — the largest Identity month celebration in the northeast outside of Novel York City and Boston.

A Welcoming Community

Residents, business leaders, collective partners, and widespread figures work together to support the LGBTQ+ community in Albany. 

• The Pride Center of the Capital Region is the oldest continuously operating LGBTQ+ center in the country. Based in Albany, the Identity festival Center has been meeting the diverse needs of the LGBTQ+ community since 1970.
• Learn more about the history of the Pride Center through the Novel York State Museum'sPride exhibit page. In honor of the center's 50th anniversary, the museum composed oral histories from members of the community which resulted in additional panel exhibition the following year which is now available for viewing online.
• The Pride Center of the Capital Region hosts the Capital Pride Festival, one of the largest celebrations of pride in Upstate New York every June.
