Being a dude was dangerous. 2. If I survived, I would be the best father any kid ever had. 3. My father’s death fractured my sense of manliness. These things nourished my denial of my same-sex attractions.

By “denial,” I do not mean lying; lying is a alert choice. Denial is one of the psychologi

Many women spot this question unthinkable but according to Bonnie Kaye, M.ED., an expert in women married to gay men, it is estimated that 4 million women have been, or are, married to gay men. Signs of a Gay Husband: Identifying Closeted Gay Husband Behaviors

This novel was honest, I deliberate, because Debra writes from her own experience, and for the most part, she doesn't generalize her experience to everybody else. In that way, it's better because it's not as judgmental and misinformed as the Gay Husband Checklist. Debra writes about her own experiences of haviug an abusive and addicted husband, who also happened to be homosexual, but avoids the trap that Bonnie Kaye falls into of applying her experiences to every gay/straight marriage, and then making blanket statements about queer people in general, the way Bonnie Kaye does.

But Debra and Bonnie do agree on some points - that queer people find it easier to lie; that male lover people's morals are drop, that gay men and lesbians are narcissist. But at least Debra doesn't make up derogatory terms, like "Penis Man" and then try to tell she isn't homophobic, the way Bonnie does.

Debra doesn't say the gays and lesbians, or transgender people like Caitlyn Jenner, hold been getting the royal treatment forever, like Bonnie says, because Debra knows it's only been about two years since Caitlyn Jenner came out as transgender.
