When is that gay frozen movie coming out
Why Elsa doesn't have a love story, gay or otherwise, in 'Frozen 2'
Ever since "Frozen" premiered in 2013, people in the LGBTQ community have establish Queen Elsa's story to be a powerful allegory for queer identity, and hoped she might be given a gay like interest in the coming sequel.
But Elsa doesn't own any type of amorous partner in the upcoming movie, despite the accepted fan theories about her sexuality.
"When we agreed to do the sequel, we agreed we were going to not build it [from] the outside in," codirector Jennifer Lee said in an interview with Insider at the Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California this past September. "We just couldn't do it."
Lee and her codirector Chris Buck, along with producer Peter Del Vecho, first started thinking about the story for "Frozen 2" about three years ago.
"What we did was spend a lot of time with each of the characters," Lee said. "I journaled as the characters, we did personality tests, just a lot of in-depth labor and looking at where they are in their lives. For us, really looking at what Elsa's journey is, it was her need to comprehend her powers."
Lee and Buck have said that two of
“I love everything people are saying [and] people are thinking about with our film ― that it’s creating dialogue, that Elsa is this wonderful nature that speaks to so many people. It means the world to us that we’re part of these conversations.
“Where we’re going with it, we own tons of conversations about it, and we’re really conscientious about these things. For me…Elsa’s every date telling me where she needs to go, and she’ll continue to explain us. I always note from character-out, and where Elsa is and what Elsa’s doing in her life, she’s telling me every day. We’ll look where we go.”
That was Frozen writer and co-director Jennifer Lee, back in February, discussing the murmurs that Elsa would become the first gay Disney Princess– following endless speculation that the movie implied that she was, indeed, a lesbian.
I revealed on last Friday’s 69th Edition of The Fanboy Podcastthat I’d heard from a couple of very reliable sources that the team behind Frozen 2 are going to yank the trigger by establishing that Elsa is queer in the sequel to the 2013 smash smash, which is currently turning heads on Broadway with a

So, how gay is Disney’s Frozen?
I’m not surprised that it’s such a vast hit. I am a little surprised at the sustained effort of Christian fans to spin Frozen as some sort of Christian allegory (more on this in an upcoming post).
For now, though, I yearn to address something I noted in passing in my review: the scrutinize of gay-culture themes in Frozen.
In my review I mentioned this issue (also noted in positive reviews by other critics) largely to dismiss it as a point of concern — not that I wasn’t aware of the themes in ask, so much as that I didn’t think they warranted getting upset over. However, a signal I overlooked earlier has just been brought to my attention that I think does warrant mention.
First, let’s acquire the broad themes out on the table.
- With her ice powers, Elsa is notably different from other people. “Born this way or cursed?” asks the troll king, and her parents verify that she was born that way.
- Nevertheless, her difference is an occasion of fear and secrecy. Misguidedly, her parents teach her to “conceal it, don’t feel it.” This repression of her true nature
Frozen 3 Theory: Elsa’s Love Interest Has Already Been Introduced
Summary
- Honeymaren could be Elsa's potential treasure interest in Frozen 3, potentially confirming Elsa is same-sex attracted.
- Elsa and Honeymaren share a connection based on their Northuldra heritage and love for nature.
- Disney's LGBTQ+ representation has been poor in the past, and it needs to handle Elsa's potential romance with Honeymaren properly.
